Highlands Chamber Dining Guide
Call ahead for reservations! When it comes to renowned restaurants none can compare to the culinary excellence of Highlands, NC. Wine and dine at one of the many Wines Spectator Award Winning Restaurants. There is everything from formal fine dining to places that will take you on a culinary journey around the world, and if you are looking for a causal lunch or dinner, we have that too everything from burgers, pizza, sandwiches, BBQ and more.
Dry Falls
This waterfall flows on the Cullasaja River through the Nantahala National Forest. It is part of a series of waterfalls on an 8.7 mile stretch of the river that eventually ends with Cullasaja Falls. Dry Falls flows over an overhanging bluff which allows visitors to walk under the falls and remain relatively dry when the waterflow is low, hence its name.
Highlands Biological Station
The Highlands Biological Station (HBS) is a multi-campus center of Western Carolina University consisting of academic research, teaching, and residential facilities as well as a natural history museum (Highlands Nature Center) and a 12-acre native plant botanical garden (Highlands Botanical Garden). The Highlands Biological Station is primarily University-supported, with additional funding provided by grants, program revenue, and the non-profit Highlands Biological Foundation, Inc.

Ski Sapphire Valley
Ski Sapphire Valley is a great place for kids to learn to ski or snow board! They also have a great learning slope with an easy ride `moving carpet` lift and plenty of room to practice!
Highlands Playhouse
Highlands Playhouse is a great theatre; small, comfortable, right in the center of town. They usually offer 2 musicals/musical reviews, and two other plays each summer. Word of advice to out of town visitors, there are a lot of good restauraunts in the area, but none of them are fast, if you are eating out before the show, make an early reservation and tell them you have a show to catch. Only place open after a show (about 9ish) is usually Brick Oven Pizza, about a block away from the Playhouse
